BMW M Heading to Nurburgring for Penultimate Stage of 2019 DTM

The 2019 DTM Season is heading into its last two stages. For the 15th and 16th races of the season BMW M Motorsports will be heading to the Eifel Mountains, more specifically the Nurburgring for what promises to be one of the most exciting weekends of this year’s competition. For BMW Team RMG this is their home turf event as their headquarters is located in Andrenach, just a few miles away from the Nurburgring. This should give them a bit of an advantage.
Speaking of which, Marco Wittmann, BMW Team RMG‘s star driver will be celebrating its 100th race at the wheel of a car under the colors of Stefan Reinhold’s team. At the same time, Marco is the best positioned BMW driver in the Driver’s Championship, with 167 points, on the third place overall. Philipp Eng is fourth with 140 points while the other two positions on the podium are occupied by Nico Muller with 213 points and Rene Rast with 233.
“I hope that we will be in a stronger position again at the Nürburgring. It’s a track that has always suited us really well in the past, and me personally. We have celebrated a few wins at BMW Team RMG’s home event in the past as well. I’ve known the track for a long time through the DTM, 24-hour races and the VLN. So I’m looking forward to the weekend and hope that we will be able to bring home good results,” said Marco about the upcoming race.
Eng and Bruno Spengler will get the weekend at the Nürburgring started with a special race for a good cause: the ONE-World Charity Simrace on Thursday evening. At this simulator event, each team is made up of one DTM pro and one fan, who secured their place during an auction. The teams will complete a total of 30 laps on the virtual Grand Prix track at the Nürburgring. Proceeds from the event will go to the children’s hospital in Cologne via the Lukas Podolski Foundation.
