BMW M8 Coupe Competition spotted in Urban Green

One of the most exquisite colors in the BMW Individual catalog is Urban Green. We’ve seen the color on several M cars before, including on an M3 owned by former BMW M CEO Frank Van Meel. Of course, this is just one example of stunning colors you can choose from, as the list also includes popular favorites like Fire Orange, Ferrari Red, Daytona Violet or Tanzanite Blue.
Urban Green is a truly rare sighting and the color seems close to British Racing Green, but a bit lighter compared to the color made famous by Jaguar race cars back in the 1960s.
This time around, an Instagram follower (@roby81) sent us a set of shots featuring the special green on a BMW M8 Coupe Competition.
Under the long, sculpted hood of the regular M8 lies essentially the same engine as in the F90 BMW M5. So it’s a 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 that, in standard guise, makes 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.
According to BMW, the M8 Coupe can get from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds. Like the M5, though we suspect the M8 will be a few ticks quicker than that, potentially breaking into the 2-second range.
EXCLUSIVE: This BMW M8 Competition Coupe looks stunning in Speed Yellow
The M8 Competition uses the same engine but make 625 hp and the same 553 lb-ft of torque. That little bit of extra power is said to drop its 0-62 mph time by one tenth, doing it in 3.2 seconds. Again, like the M5 Competition, we suspect it will drop into the 2 seconds range.
Official media test drives of the M8 are scheduled for later this months, so we should learn soon how the car handles.
