Olivia Colman well and truly stole the show as she delivered an emotional speech following her win for Best Actress at the Oscars last night.
The star was awarded the gong for her turn as Queen Anne in The Favourite, and she looked completely shocked as she walked on stage.
And proving why everybody loves her, the 45-year-old delivered a tear jerking message where she began by praising her co-stars Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone.
“I have to thank a lot of people,” the star said as she held back tears.
“If by the way, I forget anybody I’ll find you later and give you a massive snog, and feel bad about forgetting you up here.
“Emily and Rachel, the two loveliest women in the world to go to work with every day. You can imagine. This wasn’t a hard job.”
Giving a nod to fellow nominee Glenn close – who has now been nominated for an Oscar seven times without winning – she continued, “And to be in this category in this extraordinary women… Glenn Close: you’ve been my idol for so long.”
Before joking, “And this is not how I wanted this to be.”
She went on to thank her children Finn, 14 and Hall, 12, adding she “hopes they are at home and watching,” because “this isn’t going to happen again”.
After blowing a raspberry when producers told her to “wrap up”, Olivia gave a special shout out to husband Ed Sinclair, where she hailed him her “best supporter” throughout their 25-year marriage.
Drawing the epic speech to a close, the star then directed her words to any aspiring actresses.
“To any little girl who is practising their speech for the telly: you never know.
“I used to work as a cleaner, and I loved that job. And I did spend a lot of time imagining this.”
If that wasn’t emotional enough, she finally gave a final nod to Lady Gaga who was also nominated for the award for her role in A Star Is Born, and Melissa McCarthy who was also up for Can You Ever Forgive Me?
And fans of the star were quick to praise the tear-jerking speech, as one excitedly wrote, “Well…. Olivia Colman. Congrats on the best Oscar acceptance speech ever.”
