Ruth Langsford returns to social media following sister’s death – for this sweet reason

This Morning’s Ruth Langsford has returned to social media following her sister’s death to send well wishes to a friend.

Strictly Come Dancing star Gemma Atkinson welcomed her first child with partner Gorka Marquez. Ruth Langsford had also appeared on the series alongside Gemma.

Gemma shared her big news on Instagram, alongside an image with a sweet quote about family which read, “Life’s greatest blessing. A group that dreams, laughs, plays and loves together. Those whom you can always count on. Always present not only in the good times. The most precious gift.”

And just like that, we’re a three! Our beautiful baby daughter arrived on Thursday 4th July and myself and Gorks couldn’t be happier Shes incredible and she certainly made an entrance, giving us all quite a fright at times! Little Miss independent already! Thank you SO much to the Midwives, nurses & doctors at The Royal Bolton Hospital who did the most incredible job taking care of myself and my baby. You’re all so wonderful and I’m so grateful to have had you all with me and to have been under your care these past 4 days Back home now for family time and to introduce little lady to her big brothers Norman & Ollie…. Let the next life chapter begin @gorka_marquez

Ruth commented on the update congratulating Gemma and Gorka, saying, “Congratulations Yummy Mummy & Daddy!

“A beautiful (I’m sure) baby girl…what a precious gift. Sending you all much love .”

Ruth has been taking some much needed time off after her sister Julia passed away last month aged 62. The TV star wrote at the time, “My lovely sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.

“She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. As I am sure you will appreciate, I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.”

Ruth’s husband Eamonn Holmes paid tribute to Julia on his own Instagram, sharing a beautiful photo from his and Ruth’s wedding day.

In his post, Eamonn wrote, “It was the hottest day of the year , June 26th 2010. We can’t celebrate our anniversary today but we can still remember Julia in the best way, as one of our Bridesmaids, smiling, dancing and singing.”

It’s not known when Ruth will be returning to This Morning’s sofa, but Rylan Clarke-Neal has stepped in to present alongside Eamonn. He has also been supporting her behind the scenes, as Eamonn told viewers he had made Ruth laugh “for the first time in 10 days”.
